As we are entering the year 2010, we know that bridal registries are certainly not what they used to be. The thought of going into a store and registering only for that one store are long gone. With the Internet and modern-technology, we are given hundreds of more options and with those options comes a whole new world of registries. In fact, I’m pretty sure “there’s an app for that”…
So, today we are going to talk about proper etiquette when it comes to your registry. Don’t worry, I’m not giving any tea-time lessons. I’m just letting you know that there are ways you can inform your guests about registry without crossing any lines.
DON’T: Put ANY information about where you are registered on your formal invitations. This will tell them “You’re invited, here’s what to buy us”. It completely takes away from the purpose of your beautiful invitation.
YOU CAN: Include on your bridal shower invitations, “Bride is registered at ….”. Your shower invitations are typically sent out by whomever is hosting your shower and therefore, they are the ones letting your guests know where you are registered. For example, your MOH (Maid of Honor) is hosting your shower. She sends out the invites and includes your registry information. This information is now coming from her, not you.
ANOTHER OPTION: Is to get the word out using your bridesmaids, MOH, family, and friends. Have them casually spread the word about where you are registered.
MODERN CONVENIENCES: Allow us to put our information out there for everyone to see (not always a good thing, but there are always pros and cons). Creating a “wedding website” allows you to include a link for all of your bridal registries. As long as your guests know the address to your website (for example, www.MollyandEdwardWedding.com) they can access all the information that they need. Your website can include photos, directions, addresses, phone numbers, local hotels and attractions for out-of-town guests, dates, times, and of course, your bridal registry info.

Good morning at a bright and early 7:30am – yes, this is defined as “early” to me. Not necessarily “unreasonably early”, but waking up before 8-9am is “early”. So, why am I awake?
Well, last night, our family (Jason, the two dogs, and myself) decided it would be fun if we challenged ourselves each week with something small. Jason picked something for me, and I did the same for him. He didn’t have to think for long before he knew what he would challenge me with: Every morning I have to be awake and out of bed by 7:20am.
7:20am? Why not 7? Or 7:30? Well, because it was 7, I negotiated to 7:30, we compromised.
So every day this week, starting today, ending on Sunday, I must be awake by 7:20am. Don’t tell Jason, but I’m a little bit glad he picked this challenge. I like it! Shhh…
So, what’s his challenge? He has to brush his teeth every night before bed. :o)
Do you have a good challenge? Let us know – or maybe we can inspire you to do the same thing! Think about it, challenge someone to go without coffee for a week, or make their bed everyday, or put the toilet seat down – I don’t know! Oh! Jason mentioned a really good one too. Try to live on only $20 all week – eep!

On another note, the bridal show at the Hampton Inn in Easton went really well yesterday. I definitely want to give a big shout out to the girls from Royal Gourmet Foods, Paola and Brian of I Heart Photos, and Ken from Transposure. It was a pleasure meeting everyone!

Hello all! Last night, Jason and I went to this amazing little restaurant in the city of Bethlehem called Apollo Grill.
First of all, when we arrived, the gentleman asked us if we had reservations, which we didn’t. So, instead of turning us away, he said, “ok, hold on one second”. After a couple seconds of thinking, he looked at the hostess, and she said “It’s ok, seat them at table 4.” I was so excited, because I was really hungry, and didn’t want to have to wait too long. Well, we didn’t. Seated immediately on a busy Friday night – awesome!
So, as we walk back to our table, we learn that table 4 is located right next to the kitchen door. I immediately sit at the chair that is facing the kitchen, and Jay follows by sitting across from me in the chair that looks at the whole restaurant.
Within a few minutes, a tall gentleman, who we later find out is named Rod, comes over to our table and completely busts Jay on making his date sit in the “less desirable” seat. I immediately tell Rod that I actually like looking into the kitchen and it makes it exciting.
What does Rod do? He says “Well, tell your server that Rod said you can come back into the kitchen and I will show you around.” Really? Yep.
So, Rod gave us a whole extensive tour of the back kitchen, we met a whole bunch of nice staffers, including Jasmine, Steve, Matt and whole lot of others, and it was an amazing time! Let me tell you, I haven’t been in any other restaurant kitchen before, but he explained to us that “it’s all about communication”. So true.
After the tour, we sat back down and Rod brought us out this amazing salad with walnuts and apricots and other delicious stuff (on the house!) and not long after that, our dinners came. Jason had the crab stuffed shrimp and I had crab cakes. Both were incredibly tasty and left us wanting more. So, we finished the night with a beautiful creme brulee that hit the spot wonderfully.
Thank you to Rod and all the amazing staff at Apollo Grill in Bethlehem! It was a real treat!

Oh my goodness – good morning and TGIF!
So, as promised, yesterday I went to meet Kerry at the Bank St. Annex in Easton, PA. Well, whatever my expectations were before stepping into their atmosphere, were completely blown away by a landslide! Not only was the building unique and historical, it was so inviting, comfortable and was just asking for a group of family and friends to make their memories there.
I walked in to a beautiful entrance, and was very hard to believe it was once a bank. But it still had teller windows and the like, but was transformed so elegantly.
From there, Kerry showed me a beautiful area for both the women and men in the bridal party. A space just for them to get ready and have some quiet before the big event. The one bathroom even had a shower!
Next, she took me through their cocktail hour area. Several offices with adorable chairs and tables all set up in a big circle for easy and smooth flow. A separate bar for the cocktail hour is also available and it had the most breathtaking floral arrangement – well, see for yourself.
There was also a cute little teller’s window that they transformed into a seating area:
And then, we were off to the main reception area. An area that can
hold up to 200 guests (80 guest min. on Saturdays) comfortably and was an absolute amazing sight. And Kerry told me that at night, the building is even more stunning. Well, I can see that!
According to Kerry, the Bank St. Annex “strives to provide the finest service and attention to detail for your reception.” They also only host one event per day, so you will always be receiving their fullest attention and you and your guests will have use of the facility for the entire day.
Food selections include Grilled Breast of Chicken with Rosemary & Wild Mushrooms, Grilled Beef Shoulder Tender Medallions finished with a Roasted Shallot Demi Glace, Crab Stuffed Filet of Flounder with a Lemon Buerre Blanc, Grilled Rack of Lamb with Herb Crust and Natural Demi Glace and about 15 other options – and that doesn’t include the hor d’ourves.
Their packages also include free parking for your guests in a nearby parking garage, use of their bridal suite, tax, tip, ivory table linens, chair covers, cake cutting fees, bartenders, servers, and non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
They are located at 316 Northampton Street in Easton, PA and their phone number is (610) 253-0515.
Thank you, Kerry, for giving me the grand tour and it was definitely a pleasure!
