That’s right. Today we are answering the question, “What the !$@&% is a DOC?”
Before I go any further, I have to say while I can’t speak for everyone, I can say that THIS wedding coordinator in particular loves all of her wedding coordinating responsibilities, which is very likely why she became a wedding coordinator. Also not speaking for everyone, for the purpose of this post, the services described are services that I provide to my clients as part of my “DOC” package. Please know that every coordinator is different and it’s best to be very clear with all your vendors as to what services you need and what services you don’t.
Ok…
In the industry, the term “DOC” is becoming more and more popular among brides and their vendors. ”DOC” stands for “Day-Of Coordinator” or “Day-of Consultation”. Basically, they have the same meaning.
Let’s go outside the box for a second and think of your wedding like a Broadway show. There are the actors (you and your bridal party), the audience (your guests), the stage-hands (your hard-working vendors) and the stage manager (your DOC). The actors are front and center all day. All eyes are on them and they are relying on the stage-hands to keep the show moving along as planned and rehearsed. Your audience gets to experience the event and enjoy the orchestrations (details) that have been put together. Meanwhile, your stage manager is coordinating and communicating with all the different positions to keep the show running smoothly from start to finish. Any issues or unexpected events that pop up are easily taken care of (usually without the other actors or audience knowing) and at the final curtain, the actors take their bow for a job well-done.
Basically, your DOC is constantly “behind-the-scenes” and making sure that everything you’ve planned and orchestrated is happening exactly as you wanted. A DOC’s personal preference will never override that of the couple’s ensuring a stress-free day and unforgettably happy moments to remember for a lifetime.
That being said, it would be virtually impossible for a true DOC to just “show up” on the day of your wedding. Proper coordination requires several weeks of preparation to ensure a smooth flow.
Included with in my Full DOC Package:
- Complimentary initial consultation to get the ball rolling
- In-person consultation two-four weeks prior to the wedding date
- Unlimited phone and email communication

Again, I will say that not ALL coordinators do things the same but this IS how I do it. If you are interested in learning more about other services I offer, or to talk about your upcoming wedding date, email me at dpnak@me.com or click here.
