When Mollie Lang, founder of online lingerie and loungewear boutique byLangley.com, was preparing to be married she realized she had little to wear on her honeymoon. It was then that Lang realized the benefit of bringing back the old-fashioned tradition of the trousseau, but in a modern way. A trousseau is a soon-to-be or new bride’s collection of clothing items, particularly lingerie, loungewear and sleepwear, which she can wear at the start of and throughout her marriage. These gifts are given to the bride by female friends and family, and traditionally collected in a hope chest before one’s marriage.
