If you’re a chick, chances are high that you’ve seen the movie “The Wedding Planner”. If not, here’s a taste:
It’s easily one of my favorites (go figure) and it’s likely the farthest thing from reality. At least my reality.
Obviously, any chick who takes another man’s fiance isn’t cool but love is love, right?
Anyway, my beef with the movie isn’t necessarily their relationship. It’s the fact that a wedding planner is so much more than that and there’s a reason why EVERY couple should have one on their team.
First of all, you do not need to have a gazillion-dollar budget. Couples that benefit most from a coordinator/planner have a budget within the $15k-$35k range. For NEPA, this is the low to average cost for a wedding. Yep, average.
Second, a wedding planner does NOT plan your wedding. Obviously, if you want them to, you can hire them to do that. But that’s not their role. Unless you want to, you will not show up to a room that you didn’t have a hand in creating. You will always remain in the decision making position and you will be the one planning your wedding. A coordinator/planner will be the person to give you the best recommendations for your location and budget, keep you on track with your checklist, help give professional guidance, and ultimately be the voice of reason when you need one.
Third, on the day of your wedding, they will be the ones running around, sweating their make-up off and making sure everything is being taken care of. That includes yourself, your partner, your bridal party, your family and your guests. All that you need to do is show up (on time preferably) look the best that you can that day and enjoy every minute you can.
Our goal is to give you the best possible experience with your wedding day and planning adventure. It’s NEVER to take over or remove you from the picture. It’s not just for couples with Kim Kardashian lifestyles or those that want to be all high and mighty. It’s for the practical couple who understand that there is nothing wrong with having an experienced coordinator on their side to help them walk confidently and comfortably towards the aisle. Plus, a great coordinator will save you more money than you spend to hire them, in most cases – so get them on your team asap and you’ll be happy.
