Oh, this lady. This incredibly sweet, sassy, fun, and just amazing human being is also a brilliant photographer and I’ve been waiting since January to share this goodness with you all. We first showcased Danielle’s work from Chelsey and Brian’s wedding last October and it was such a pleasure to work with her.

Danielle Coons Watson of Danielle Coons Photography is Scranton-based photographer with a zest for life and I’d like for you to meet her.

Folx, I give you, the other Danielle.

Hello. Who are you?

Coons: Hello there!! I’m Danielle Coons Watson and I like to say that I am a musically-motivated highly-caffeinated, incredibly passionate wedding photographer based out of Scranton, PA!  I’m a Boston born Philadelphia-raised, world-traveler; a daughter, sister and friend! Also, I am a brand new wife. I am an artist; a lover of the moments and an adventure-seeker. I chase light and laughter! Literally…like I RUN TO IT!  I am one of those lucky people who has an ordinary life filled with extraordinary people and moments!

Who or what got you started in the industry?

Coons: I was working as an art director in the advertising world when all of my friends started getting engaged! Since I’d gone to college for both graphic design + photography (I was a bit of an overachiever!) it seemed natural to be the one to document their engagement! All of the sudden, I found myself OBSESSED with capturing the beautiful moments between two people  in love! After documenting my first wedding in May 2011 my passion was set on fire and I knew I’d found what I was meant to be doing. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of documenting 100+ love stories!

What is your favorite part about being in the wedding world?

Coons: My favorite part about the wedding world is how no two days are ever the same! Every single day there is the possibility to have a different experience, to learn something new and to hear a different story! I truly love getting to know people! I remember one time I was left alone in the hotel room to photograph the bridal details – – and I was with the Bride’s Aunt. We casually chatted, and then she started to tell me all about her husband – – and THEIR wedding day. She had lost her husband 5 years ago, and when I extended my sympathy she responded with, “Thank you, but he gave me the greatest gift of my life, an amazing love story and 3 beautiful children.”  It’s those moments when I become more than a photographer that I’m so grateful for.

Besides weddings, are there any other special events that you service?

Coons: Heck yea!! One of the best things about being a wedding photographer is that you become a part of people’s lives!  While I don’t “advertise” that I do maternity/newborns/families – if a past client reaches out during this special time in their lives, I’m always happy to document it for them!

What are FIVE adjectives you’d use to describe your style?

Coons: Authentic, Energetic, Timeless, Romantic  and Joyful

As a photographer, where do you go to be inspired?

Coons: I’m incredibly inspired by people and their stories! My inspiration always starts there. Then it’s followed by music, sunlight and the world around me. Traveling inspires me. I love being under a different sky!

What sets you apart from other fellow photographers?

Coons: Let me just start by saying that there are some truly amazing fellow photographers in this area! Many of whom I am blessed to call my friends!! I think the biggest thing that sets me apart from them is ME! I focus a lot of my attention on providing an experience for my clients. I work very closely with all of my couples to make sure we’re a good fit for each other! I’m genuine and transparent in my approach to photography and the way I run my business, and I think my couples respect and trust that! My passion for servicing my clients and their families is what creates a memorable experience for everyone on a wedding day! Also, I never stop smiling.

Whether you’re single, married, divorced, widowed… we all have words of advice when it comes to relationships. What is your advice to couples tying the knot?

Coons: Strive for a marriage more beautiful than your wedding…and never stop dating each other :)

If you were a hamburger, what kind of burger would you be and why?

Coons: Honestly, I think I’d be the hamburger’s partner in crime: the 5-piece chicken nugget.  With sweet & sour sauce.

Aside from weddings, what are some of your other hobbies/hidden talents/secret powers?

Coons: I’m an amazing parallel parker!! I may be a horrible driver, but I nail parallel parking EVERY SINGLE TIME!!  It’s one of those hidden talents that surprises a lot of people! Also, I’m pretty good at golf.

Speaking of super powers, if you could choose to have any, what would you pick?

Coons: Easy. Teleportation.  Every since I was a little kid I wished I could just close my eyes and teleport places. Right now I’d be answering these questions from a hammock by a beach…or having lunch with my Mom in Philly!
