Refine Workshop: Guest Speaking in Fredericksburg, Virginia

For a few years now, I’ve been part of REFINE which is an educational resource for wedding planners and truly a great community. This past February, REFINE hosted an intimate workshop in Fredericksburg, Virginia and I was so honored to not only attend but also be a guest speaker for the event.

As someone who’s been in the wedding industry for almost ten years now, I feel as though I have a good handle on the overall workings of my business. But there are always areas that I’m looking to improve and tweaks that can be made to provide a better overall service to my clients and produce greater events on a whole. I’m also someone who LIVES for continuing my education in as many untraditional ways as possible, so investing in myself both personally and professionally is always a good idea in my book.

The REFINE workshop took place on February 26 and 27, 2019 in the beautiful town of Fredericksburg, Virginia and was hosted by the incredibly kind leader of REFINE, Amber Anderson of Heavenly Day Events in Austin, Texas.

There was an intimate group of about 15 planners, including myself, who traveled all the way from Maine, California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Virginia.

The incredibly cool 718 Venue offered their space for us to use and it was the perfect setting for learning, discussion, and brainstorming.

And the very sweet Avery from Always Avery Photography joined us on the first day to capture some of these beautiful photos.

I mean, really. How cool is this space?

Excited for these new headshots – thanks to Avery!

Part of the workshop’s events included a DELICIOUS dinner at Orofino where we were spoiled rotten with tons of amazing appetizers, mouthwatering pasta dishes and of course, wine! It is a GREAT spot in Fredericksburg that I’d happily go back to in a heartbeat. As an extra special treat, Generation Tux graciously bought us all of our drinks – so a big THANK YOU to them, as well!

I truly can’t thank Amber and REFINE enough for including me as a guest speaker for this event. I was SO happy to get “down and dirty” sharing tips on how to stay organized behind-the-scenes.

I learned a TON (including some super-important things about emergency situations) and made friendships that I’m excited to see grow over the upcoming months. Every single one of these women showed up eager and ready to learn, share, and build one another up in a way that filled my tank up to the absolute brim. #Communityovercompetition all the way!
