Creative Spotlight: Tree of Life Films and Photography
It’s safe to say that there are very few things left once your wedding day is all over. While the food eventually gets eaten and the flowers start to wilt, photography and videography are two of biggest keepsakes you have once it’s all said and done.
For this reason, I can’t recommend hiring the best your budget will allow. This is never an area to “cut corners” if it means something special to you and I always tell all of my couples to invest wisely in their photographer and videographer teams. Because of this, the value they give to their clients and about a million other reasons, I highly recommend Tom and Jennifer of Tree of Life Films and Photography.
So grab some popcorn, a cup of coffee or hot tea, maybe some tissues and read all about this duo while watching two of their recent highlight videos.
(Trust me, it’s worth a watch even if you have NO idea who these couples are)
Hello. Who are you?
Tom and Jennifer: Hi We’re Tom and Jennifer with Tree of Life Films and Photography. We’re based in the suburbs of Philly where we both grew up.
Who or what got you started in the industry?
Tom and Jennifer: Our wedding video is what got us started in the business. Our film moved us so much and brought us so much happiness that we thought this would be amazing to offer other couples. Tom went to film school and had just finished work on an independent feature film so he started to work for the company that created our film. From there, it all happened so quickly and within a year, Jennifer quit her day job and we were running Tree of Life full time.
Ok, you’re a husband and wife team. What is it like working with your spouse?
Tom and Jennifer: People ask us this all of the time… They think we’re crazy but we can honestly say we get along really well. We have complimentary temperaments so we balance each other out. We have a great work flow and we have our different “jobs” within each project. Plus, we just genuinely like to be around each other all the time :)
What is your favorite part about being in the wedding world?
Tom and Jennifer: Ok, we are just big saps. We’re very passionate and emotional and well, just love love. It’s really an amazing job to be there on one of the most important days of a couple’s life together.
Besides weddings, are there any other special events that you service?
Tom and Jennifer: We film and photograph a wide array of projects including commercial work. We are always up for something new!
What are FIVE adjectives you’d use to describe your style?
Tom and Jennifer: Raw, passionate, real, heartfelt, dreamy
As a filmmaker, where do you go to be inspired?
Tom and Jennifer: Bike rides on the tow path in New Hope. Enjoying nature either in our own backyard or at a park.
What sets you apart from other fellow videographers?
Tom and Jennifer: It’s really important for us to get to know our couples and create a film that is unique to them. By getting to know them and experiencing their day, we find a song that best represents their personalities. Our goal is to make the best film possible, custom to the couple and that’s why each of our films are different. We don’t have a specific plan or routine to follow for each of our films. The best part of it all is that when we become friends with our couples and continue to be in their lives after their wedding.
Whether you’re single, married, divorced, widowed… we all have words of advice when it comes to relationships. What is your advice to couples tying the knot?
Tom and Jennifer: Always listen and remember how much you love each other.
If you were a hamburger, what kind of burger would you be and why?
Tom and Jennifer: Veggie burger with fried onions, tomato, lettuce, ketchup and mustard…and now we’re hungry :)
Aside from weddings, what are some of your other hobbies/hidden talents/secret powers?
Tom and Jennifer: We love to cook! We are always trying new recipes. We just recently moved into our first home, so if we have any free time, you’ll find us doing home projects. DIY all the way!
Speaking of superpowers, if you could choose to have any, what would you pick?
Tom and Jennifer: Flying… Can only imagine what it’s like to see the world from that perspective.
Finally, how do we connect with you?
