Jen and Tyler’s Summer Race Street Pier Ceremony and La Peg Wedding Celebration
Jen and Tyler’s beautiful Race Street Pier ceremony and La Peg Wedding was one that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget.
When we first started working together, in October 2019, we were working on planning a wedding for October of 2020. As with so many other couples, 2020 had other plans and caused this amazing couple to make the difficult decision their wedding. Feeling cautiously optimistic, they originally postponed to a date in early May 2021. After some concerns that everyone on their guest list wouldn’t be fully vaccinated in time, plus knowing that Philadelphia might not be ready for weddings just yet – they made another difficult decision to postpone once again to August 2021.
With each postponement, they stayed positive, kept their guests’ safety at the forefront of every decision, and handled each bump in the road with so much grace and kindness. As their coordinator, I helped them navigate these uncharted waters and (according to them) “expertly guided” them through the whole process with “incredible professionalism and grace”.
(Let me just say that I will FOREVER be grateful for amazing clients like them)
Jen and Tyler opted to get ready separately with their wedding party and VIPs at the Marriott Old City in Philadelphia, PA. This hotel in particular is GREAT spot for room blocks with a bright and airy lobby (with a great bar) and beautiful rooms.
They did their first looks with their wonderful photographer, Alison Dunn Photography, on the Pier. Since it was so hot, it was easy to pop into their reception venue, La Peg at Fringe Arts to soak up some air conditioning as much as they needed.
Under the most amazing and sunny, blue sky, 150 guests made their way onto the Race Street Pier for a beautiful ceremony, officiated by the bride’s cousin, Andrew. This same cousin was the ring bearer in Jen’s parents wedding and his son was the ring bearer for theirs. The little guy even carried the same pillow down the aisle, just like his Dad did 30-some years ago!
After some photos with their families, everyone made their way across the street for some amazing food and tasty cocktails by La Peg. This spot is one of my favorite venues in Philadelphia. It offers a relaxed and casual vibe, with seasonal and delicious food, plus a killer view of the river. Guests have indoor/outdoor space and allows something for everyone.
After cocktail hour, the room for dinner was revealed. The floral team at Belovely created an incredible and take-your-breath-away space for guests to enjoy a family-style dinner at long tables.
After dinner and some toasts, it was time for cake, dancing, more dessert, and all-around celebrating! The Mole Street Artists band, Blues Junior, kept people dancing all night long,
Thank you again to Jen, Tyler, and Jen’s mom, Nancy – they were an incredible team that I had the utmost pleasure of working with! It was an honor to work behind-the-scenes coordinating the details of their day while they were able to enjoy every minute their friends, family, and loved ones.
