Dinner by Design 2015: DPNAK Weddings snagged Third Place

At the end very of January of this year, I received an email from an old high-school friend inviting me to take part in this year’s Dinner By Design event. Dinner By Design is an annual event held in the northeastern Pennsylvania to raise money for the Lackawanna Historical Society. This year would be the second year it would be held at POSH at the Scranton Club and I was eager to jump on board and join other local greats like Central Park FlowersMCR Productions, JK Designs, and more.

Before I got too far into anything, I reached out to my insanely talented friend, Sarah Petryk of Allium Design. She agreed to help out and brainstorm ideas. I can tell you that I went all the way from a nautical theme to a Harry Potter theme (tee-hee), but we eventually settled on this really neat idea of using mixed metals.

According to the “Design Inspiration”…

“A post-apocalyptic dinner party of sorts with hues of mixed metals and different textures. Matted golds, silvers, coppers and even a touch of coal as a gentile nod to Scranton. Industrial organic and a bit of contrast between hard and soft.”

One of my favorite pieces of this design was the balloon installation. We ended up using almost 350 balloons to create this “arch” that served as an incredibly cool backdrop for our scene. I can’t thank my incredibly family enough for spending almost eight hours with me blowing up all of these little suckers – especially my amazing Mom and Nana.

I truly can’t thank the Lackawanna Historical Society enough for allowing me the opportunity to take part in their event. After all was said and done, we received 3rd place based on the votes of the attendees and for our first year, I couldn’t be happier!
