Free Library on the Parkway Wedding | Melissa and Josh
Philadelphia offers so many stunning wedding venues, but there’s something truly special about a wedding at the Free Library on the Parkway. Situated right by Logan Circle, it’s a location that perfectly blends historic charm with modern city views. Melissa and Josh’s late June wedding was a wonderful example of that, with a day that started out sunny and pretty, transitioning into a cozy evening rain that cooled everything down just right.
Capturing the day was Rachel Betson Photography, whose talent behind the camera ensured that every important moment was beautifully documented.
Our couple, thoughtful and kind-hearted, chose The Logan Hotel for their getting-ready space. The hotel, with its chic interiors and proximity to the library, is one of my absolute favorite spots in the city for pre-wedding preparations. Watching them prepare for their day was a quiet, intimate experience — particularly as the bride had some understandable feelings about being the center of attention. But she handled it all with grace and strength, embodying the poise that so many brides hope to achieve on their wedding day.
The talented Rachel Betson Photography captured every moment beautifully, while Shutter and Sound added their videography magic to the mix. VIPs were shuttled so smoothly by Sterling Limo — one of my favorite transportation companies in Philly — ensuring everyone arrived perfectly on time for photos at the nearby Rodin Museum. If you’ve never considered the Rodin Museum for your wedding photos, let me tell you: it’s absolutely stunning. The lush gardens and classic sculptures provided the perfect backdrop for the couple’s portraits. It does require a permit, so make sure to plan in advance.
The ceremony took place in the grand lobby of the library. I had the privilege of spending a few quiet moments with the bride’s father at the base of the grand staircase just before he met her to walk her down the aisle. Watching him take deep breaths and compose himself was one of those intimate moments that will stay with me for a long time. It’s a reminder of the deep emotions that run through a wedding day — not just for the couple, but for their families as well.
Cocktail hour followed on the second-floor balcony, where guests enjoyed views of the library’s architectural details before moving up to the rooftop for dinner and dancing.
With the entire Philadelphia skyline as a backdrop, the reception was breathtaking. Although the evening brought rain, it was a blessing in disguise, as it cooled off the warm summer night and made the couple’s decision to install a tent an absolutely perfect one.
And the entertainment? DJ Taiga from Remixologists truly outdid himself, pairing his set with a live saxophone player and drummer. The energy was electric, and the guests couldn’t get enough. Myrtle and Magnolia’s florals added the perfect touch of elegance, and Brulee Catering, the in-house caterer for the library, ensured that every bite was as memorable as the views.
In the end, it was a day that beautifully reflected the couple’s thoughtful nature, filled with little moments of joy, love, and laughter. I’m so grateful to have been a part of it and to have witnessed such meaningful connections throughout the day.
