Heartfelt Summer Wedding at Morris Arboretum | Kari and Jason

This past Summer set the stage for an unforgettable wedding that blended intentional details, genuine warmth, and the natural beauty of one of Philadelphia’s cherished venues. The event began at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill for a meaningful ceremony, followed by a stunning reception at Morris Arboretum. With perfect weather and an upgrade to host the cocktail hour at the arboretum’s unique Out On a Limb space, it felt as though Mother Nature herself was joining in the celebration.

Planning this wedding was an absolute joy. The bride, a devoted Presbyterian minister, made every decision thoughtfully and with her guests in mind, while her groom, a nursing supervisor with a keen eye for photography, added creative and meaningful touches. Together, they created an event that reflected their deep care for each other and their loved ones.

My good friend and former podcast co-host, Daniel Moyer of Daniel Moyer Photography, was there to capture each candid laugh, tearful embrace, and detail with his signature storytelling lens, ensuring the memories would last far beyond the day itself.

The morning began with the bride and her VIPs getting ready at their apartment, surrounded by the comfort of home and the anticipation of the day. Mack Stylist handled hair and makeup, creating a look that was both elegant and relaxed, perfectly complementing the bride’s personality. This cozy start to the day set the tone for the heartfelt moments that would follow.

One of the most memorable moments came during the couple’s First Look at the church. In a touching surprise, the bride revealed her hidden talent—playing the piano. Having taken lessons in the months leading up to the day, she performed one of the groom’s favorite songs, filling the room with music and emotion. I don’t think there was a dry eye as she played (I know mine were leaking buckets); it was a beautiful reminder of the love and dedication that built their relationship.

After the ceremony, Kari’s congregation hosted a charming “cookie and punch” reception right at the church. This short and sweet gathering allowed the couple’s extended community to share in the celebration and offer their love and well-wishes. It was a thoughtful way to include more friends and members of the congregation before the couple departed for their more intimate reception at Morris Arboretum. The warm, joyous atmosphere at this gathering was a beautiful testament to the deep connections the couple had cultivated within their community.

The florals were a blend of rented arrangements from Something Borrowed, which offered an affordable yet beautiful touch, plus a fresh bridal bouquet by Vault and Vine that added a vibrant, natural element. This creative mix of faux and real florals gave the day a unique and charming aesthetic that complemented the lush greenery of Morris Arboretum.

With the evening sun casting a warm glow over the arboretum, guests enjoyed a reception that felt intimate yet grand. The catering by Power Events kept everyone nourished for an evening of heartfelt speeches, dancing (from No Macarena DJ, Darrel), and celebration.

This wedding was more than just a beautiful—it was a true reflection of the couple’s love, values, and dedication to creating a meaningful experience for their guests. The combination of their thoughtfulness, the stunning setting of Morris Arboretum, and moments like the piano surprise made it a day that will be cherished by everyone who attended.

As a type-A person who is used to running things, it’s not often I find someone I fully trust to manage an event, but Danielle is that person! By the time we got to our wedding day, she knew the details of the day better than I did. I never worried about a thing on our wedding day because I knew Danielle had it covered!
