Cheyney and Ryan’s Winter Union Trust Wedding

I had the pleasure of meeting Cheyney when she was a bridesmaid in a previous couple’s wedding. So I was wholeheartedly honored when she reached out to see if I was available to coordinate hers, too!

Originally being from Pennsylvania, Cheyney, along with her groom, Ryan, spent most of their engagement wedding planning from Texas. They were originally supposed to get married in January 2021, but like many other couples, COVID derailed their plans and they opted to push their celebration out a full year to January 2022.

Despite living in Texas, when you’re planning a wedding to happen in the Mid-Atlantic in the middle of winter – January, to be exact – there’s always a chance for snow. And they LOVED the idea of having their non-Pennsylvania family and friends experiencing a true winter wedding.

Boy, did they get their wish.

When their weekend arrived, and just after all of their traveling guests safely arrived in the area, Philadelphia received several inches of snow. It didn’t affect many plans since we had already factored in snow being part of the day.

But being the over-prepared planner that I am, I opted to stay overnight in the city. And I have to tell you, waking up to all that snow in the city was so magical.

Luckily, Daniel Moyer Photography was on-site to capture the entire day and very kindly shared these photos with me. It’s always so much fun when I get to work together with my podcast buddy!

The couple got ready at Hotel Monaco. To keep things easy for myself, this is also where I stayed the night before and I have to say — it’s such a FANTASTIC hotel.

(If you’re thinking about setting up a block there for your upcoming wedding, they are lovely to work with, too. Shoot me an email and I’m happy to help you set this up with them.)

I truly can’t say anything else until I introduce you to Cheyney’s mom, Penny. After meeting her, I knew exactly where Cheyney got every bit of her kindness, compassion, joy, and love. Penny’s energy was contagious and I can only hope to be half as wonderful as she when I grow up.

Seriously, just the best.

And I LOVED the reveal Cheyney opted to do with her bridesmaids… just before I helped into some snow boots to get her safely off to see her groom.

The couple opted to take their photos at their ceremony site, the Arch Street Friends Meeting House. This was such a wonderful and beautiful spot to have the Quaker wedding that meant so much to Cheyney.

And how gorgeous is that bridal bouquet by Myrtle and Magnolia? The bride could not stop smelling it because she loved it so much.

After the ceremony and some family photos, the newlyweds and their guests made their way to Union Trust to eat, dance, and celebrate the night away with American Deluxe Band.

Congratulations to Cheyney and Ryan on an absolutely beautiful, memorable, and joyful day! Thank you for including me and the DPNAK team!
