In 2012, I had the pleasure of being part of Sarah and Bart’s lakeside wedding and the super-sweet Karla Korn was their photographer. Ever since, I’ve had fun following along in her adventures and I’m so honored and happy to showcase her in this month’s spotlight.
Ladies and gents, meet Karla of Karla Korn Photography.
Hello. Who are you?
Karla: I’m Karla Hudock (my married name) of Karla Korn Photography! My hometown is Northampton, Pennsylvania but I currently live in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Who or what got you started in the industry?
Karla: My dad. He got a camera for his birthday one year and he never saw it because I basically claimed it as my own. He taught me the ins and outs of exposure and lighting until I got to college where I specialized in photography.
What is your favorite part about being in the wedding world?
Karla: You know, this changes every few months. At the moment, I’m really loving just the raw beauty of such an event. The dress, the flowers, the reception hall…and how every bride makes it come to together beautifully. They are all truly unique and it is constantly inspiring me.
Besides weddings, are there any other special events that you service?
Karla: Oh yes, everything you can think of. Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Quinceaneras, Corporate events…etc
What are FIVE adjectives you’d use to describe your style?
Karla: Organized, silly, patient (not while driving), hungry (all the time) and level-headed
As a photographer, where do you go to be inspired?
Karla: It used to be blogs and right now I’m struggling to put my finger on what exactly inspires me. Honestly, I’m a people-watcher. The way people move, smile, stand, talk… And the combination of the lighting, location and angles… it all comes together differently at every event.
What sets you apart from other fellow photographers?
Karla: I find I see a difference in a lot of ways, although my clients constantly say it’s my personality. I have a knack for making people feel comfortable in front of the camera. Also my knowledge of light sets my work apart from others. It could be a parking lot, but with the correct angle and light, nobody will notice the parking lot.
Whether you’re single, married, divorced, widowed… we all have words of advice when it comes to relationships. What is your advice to couples tying the knot?
Karla: Talk. Talk about everything and anything.
If you were a hamburger, what kind of burger would you be and why?
Karla: Mmm, just recently discovered the portobello burger. With garlic, goat cheese, arugula and balsamic vinegar on half a bun. I’m drooling.
Aside from weddings, what are some of your other hobbies/hidden talents/secret powers?
Karla: Cooking. I’m not sure if it’s a ‘super power’ since I don’t consider myself very good, but I certainly do have quite the odd pallet. I’m trying to find a good hobby. I’m so busy I don’t have time for anything else. Although I got a sewing machine and lessons for Christmas…which I’m stoked about!
Speaking of super powers, if you could choose to have any, what would you pick?
Karla: Uh, flying of course.
Finally, how do we connect with you?
