This past July, Erin and Mike said their “I Do’s” at their backyard wedding on Erin’s family property in Thompson, Pennsylvania.
The property was gorgeous and anything you could ever wish for when you think of a “backyard wedding”. Their ceremony would take place next to a beautiful lake and Erin, along with her dad and bridesmaids, would arrive from across the lake on a boat (dreamy, right?). After the ceremony, the guests would enjoy cocktails and appetizers on the front lawn with some games, and make their way to a HUGE tent complete with floral hoops for dinner.
But Mother Nature had plans for the day outside of our control.
The entire morning, as the DPNAK team and the hardworking crew at Constantino’s Catering worked to get everything setup, it POURED. My poncho and rain boots were working overtime and I was still pretty soaked.

I LOVE that Amanda Krieg Photography somehow snapped a photo of my fave rain boots when I was inside the house at some point.
By some wonderful miracle, just in time for their lakeside wedding ceremony, the rain stopped. We quickly dried chairs and made the call to go for it. While we had a “Plan B” for their ceremony, it wasn’t nearly as magical as the lakeside/boat-entrance option.

During the ceremony, we watched the radar and made the call to move the cocktail hour to the reception tent and we saw storms (complete with thunder, yay) very quickly approaching. I mean VERY.
Half way through their ceremony, we could hear the thunder. I was panicking and hoping that it would just hold off until we got everyone safely into the tent (if not, loads of umbrellas were on standby). And somehow, by some other wonderful miracle, the ceremony happened, they kissed, we cheered, and everyone made their way to the tent. Just as the last guest made it safely to the tent, the rain started again.
But nobody seemed to care to much. We had great food, tasty drinks, and good music playing. After a delicious dinner and some dancing, the night started to wind down with a killer fireworks show.
